My Life Off the Comma
Welcome to my new Substack where I talk about and explore the experience of being stuck and getting unstuck. I call this sitting on a comma and getting off the comma.
I’ve been resisting social media but reluctantly posting on other platforms. Mostly about my podcast. I’m not really inspired by posting video and pushing content. But here on Substack, I believe I can share in a way that comes easier for me and allows me to express myself in my own way – through written word.
Here, I want to share and talk about sitting on a comma. I want to explore things that make us stuck. What it’s like, what it creates and what it can teach us. As someone who experiences sitting on a comma a lot in my own life, I want to also find ways to get unstuck – proven and new.
I also want to share my current and future plans. Since 2018, I’ve made the decision to step off the path I was on and go a different way. Don’t be misled… this was part intention, part desperation and a large part “escape”! While I didn’t know it at the time, this initial rebellion would become the pathway to a different way of thinking, believing, feeling, living and surviving. This path, “my path to freedom”, is not the easy one. I’m still on the road and trying to navigate it every day. It is disorienting. There is no map. I have no idea where it will take me. And I need to walk it alone (but with all the love and support of the many people whom I am lucky to have in my life). One of my coaches described it this way to mea once, “you are the path, paving itself”. (Thank you, Joseff!) So, I’m calling this journey, “My Life Off the Comma”. I invite you to join me and see where it leads. There are already interesting things in the works.
By the way, the podcast is where people share their stories about sitting on a comma. You can find it here on my Substack and on Apple, Spotify and YouTube. We are everyday people telling stories and getting real with each other. We are listeners and seek to inspire through storytelling and modeling what listening can look like and create in this tumultuous world. I may also write about the podcast. Each episode and each storyteller presents opportunities to reflect on what they’ve shared, what I’ve learned and other things that come from the telling of the story. I invite you all to jump in and abre also. (Heads up, I’m always looking for new guests! Reach out to me and join us!)
You may also find me using this space to journal and reflect. I’m not entirely sure of my outcome, but it feels like the space to get out of me some of the many, many things that have been inside for the last few years, even longer.
Wherever you find yourself sitting on a comma, I hope this page provides you with validation, affirmation, connection and maybe inspiration. I don’t presume to have the answers for you. You have those. I can only share my own journey and occasionally pose some questions for us all to consider. Here’s to each of us learning what we can and finding our own ways to get off the comma.
